How to Avoid a Wrong Match on Tinder

Gross to think that many people on the Tinder app are looking to hook up and nothing more. With sexual transmitted diseases running rapid, why put yourself at risk. Despite the creeps there are still a few good guys and women on the app.

Getting asked for naked pictures and when to hook up in less than 30 seconds of matching is the most annoying thing. Just because they’re hot doesn’t mean they’re a good match. The profile bio is on there for a reason, it will save you a wasted time and effort if you read it.

Read their bio

Many people on the app are straight up about what they’re looking for right from the jump. Some bios will read something like this, “Not looking for anything serious, only here for friends”, and “No relationships”. Other non-relationship seekers will only have their social media handle in their bio. These people use Tinder to attract others to their social media accounts. Chances are if you liked their profile, you wouldn’t mind following them on social media boosting their account for promotional purposes. Don’t fall victim to only being a follower and never connecting with your Tinder match.

Scope their picture

People actively steal people’s identities and aren’t true to who they say they are. Make sure pictures on Tinder aren’t pictures of other pictures. All people have photos of themselves on their phone. There’s no reason to take pictures of another picture and upload it to Tinder.

Be on the lookout for photos with extensive photoshop editing. This indicates they won’t look like their pictures when you meet them. People are good at photo shopping; they take it as far as faking their entire life for recognition on social media like Luka Magnotta from the NETFLIX series Don’t F*** With Cats.

Having a Tinder account but no social media doesn’t mean they’re fake. Unless they can’t commit to a video chat, then that’s another red flag they aren’t who they say they are.

Tinder allowing people to share their Spotify interest is a way to tell instantly if you and your possible match have something in common. After all we aren’t here to waste anyone’s time. Knowing what you have in common sooner, the better.

Check out their social media

If someone you’re interested in has a likeable bio and pictures you can’t take your eyes off, seal the deal by checking out their social media profile. Having social media reference in your bio isn’t always a bad thing. Instead, you can use it to confirm your possible match is who they say they are. Check out their group of friends and see if who they say they are checks out. Find out if their vibe is something you can mesh with. If not, swipe left.

Be leery of group photos

When each photo has two or more people in the photo you can’t tell who’s who. Chances are you’ll swipe right and match with the person you were least attracted to in the photo. Avoid that awkward moment of having to un-match them and swipe left.

Final Thoughts

People on dating apps who are genuinely seeking a relationship won’t hold back from getting to know you. They won’t hit you up after hours and beg for pictures of you with little to no clothes on. Love interest also won’t ask for money before meeting. Find out if the person you’re dating currently is after your love or lust here
