Talk highly of yourself always and learn to take constructive criticism. When you believe in yourself it is easier to overcome self-doubt which sabotages your confidence.
Start Writing
Write, write, write, and write some more. People need to know you exist. Create a portfolio of your writing samples to have on hand to show clients and potential companies you’d like to write for. The best place to put your writing on display is through blogging.
Figure out your Niche
Your niche needs to be a specific thing that you market for a product or service. Most writers have a preferred style of writing or certain topics that they are passionate about writing about. That way when you figure out your niche it will make it easier to complete writing assignments.
Have patience
As a new writer you won’t find work right away. So have patience in the beginning, don’t let it discourage you when you don’t book every gig you apply for. It usually takes about one month to get a solid gig. Beginner freelance writers start at $12k a year. Top earners make as much as $168k a year.
Enhance your written skills
When writing there will always be an opportunity to learn and grow your skills. The more you know the more you’ll grow. There are many programs to help increase your writing skills. Some programs include:

Have a work schedule
Have a set schedule of when you’ll be working. Staying organized will keeping you from having sleepless nights and misplacing your work.
Keep track of income
Keep track of what you earn and what you spend on your business as a freelance writer. Having your finances in order will be helpful come tax season.
Find a mentor
Having a mentor to share their insight on his or her own path will help you explore other career opportunities, goal setting, networking with professionals, and identifying helpful resources.
